Invernet was launched on 12 December
2005
Invernet is a suburban network for the Highland capital. Conceived by
Highland Rail Partnership and funded for 3 years by Highland Council,
Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Scottish Executive. It then
is subsumed into the ScotRail franchise. The Wick Limited arrives in Inverness
11.12.06
The first anniversary was marked on 11 December 2006 with an
event
in Inverness on the arrival of the new limited stop service from Wick.
Services between Inverness and Lairg saw 30% growth in passengers
in the first year of Invernet.
